What is Neurofeedback?

  • Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback, brain training, that has been shown to have positive long-term outcomes. Electrodes are placed on the scalp to listen to the brain’s activity patterns. This information is fed back to the brain, through innovative software, in a way that the brain understands. This helps the brain learn to function with more stability and effectively move through states of arousal. The brain is rewarded for changing its own activity to healthier more stabilized patterns of activity. This is a gradual, gentle, feel good learning process over the course of the neurofeedback sessions.

  • Neurofeedback therapy can be done with clients of any age, from young children to the elderly. Neurofeedback can be used to treat a variety of disorders including ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, insomnia, developmental delays, seizure disorders, addictions and more!

  • Neurofeedback has been used for decades, but it’s still not widely known because it hasn’t been heavily marketed or standardized like traditional medical treatments. Much of the research and clinical use has developed quietly within psychology, neuroscience, and specialized wellness fields. Unlike medications or medical procedures backed by large pharmaceutical companies, neurofeedback is typically offered by smaller practices and clinicians who focus on individualized care.

In recent years, awareness has grown as more studies show its effectiveness for regulating brain activity, improving focus, reducing anxiety, and supporting emotional balance. As education and access continue to expand, more people are beginning to learn about and benefit from neurofeedback.

  • Anyone who wants a better brain should consider neurofeedback. This includes brains with severe deficits or individuals who are looking for peak performance in athletics, school or work.

Our agency is actively engaged in evidence-based practice as we participate in data collection and research through collaboration with the Neurofeedback Advocacy Project. Find out more about this project at Home | The Neurofeedback Advocacy Project (neurofeedbackadvocacyproject.com)

  • Neurofeedback is offered at prices that are commensurate with the cost of standard mental health treatment.

We do offer a sliding scale for those in need. Please contact our office for more information.

    • The intake assessment (1.5 hours) includes a consultation, standardized QIK test, & RTS symptom tracking program for $340

    • Each subsequent individual session is $160 (53 Minutes) (20 sessions are typically recommended)

    • Reassessment Session (1 hour) includes a re-evaluation & standardized QIK test for $160

    • A package of 20 sessions including intake assessment and reassessment is offered for a discounted price, if paid up front.

  • Initial Intake Session

Duration: This can be split into two 53-minute sessions or one 113-minute session. You and your therapist can decide what works best for you and this may be determined by your insurance coverage.

During the intake session, we review your questionnaire and discuss your background, including mental and physical health history, current symptoms, life stressors, and daily functioning. This time also allows us to understand your goals for neurofeedback and answer any questions you may have.

    • Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) : Complete a brief Adverse Childhood Experiences questionnaire that helps identify early life stressors that may influence nervous system development and current stress responses.

    • Current Stresses Questionnaire
Complete an assessment related to current stressors, including family support, social environment support, financial stressors, educational concerns, occupational stress, and health or housing challenges.

    • Symptom Profiling for Future Ratings : Complete a baseline symptom rating through our Results Tracking System. This helps identify the severity of current symptoms and allows us to monitor changes and progress throughout your neurofeedback training.

    • Cognitive Assessment : Complete a computerized cognitive assessment called the QIK Test, which measures attention, processing speed, reaction time, and how your brain responds to cognitive stress. The results are reviewed together and help guide your individualized training plan.

    • Education About Neurofeedback : We discuss how neurofeedback works, what to expect during sessions, and how symptom tracking helps guide your training.

After the Intake Session: Beginning Neurofeedback Training

(Duration of each NF training session: 53-minutes)

Neurofeedback sessions typically begin after the initial intake process. Most clients complete 20 or more training sessions, which allows the brain time to gradually stabilize new patterns and improve regulation.

    After Approximately 20 Sessions: Re-Assessment

    (Duration of session: 53 minutes)

We complete a re-assessment session to review progress and determine next steps. This session includes repeating the QIK cognitive assessment, updating symptom ratings, reviewing current stressors and functioning, and discussing your experience and progress during the training process.
