COUNSELORS & STAFF
Amy Jefferson, CMHC Intern
I am a master’s student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at University of Utah. I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology at University of Utah prior and am anticipating graduating with my Positive Psychology Certificate. I have over five years of experience working in the field of addiction recovery and currently treat anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, substance use, and trauma.
I believe that life is full of challenges, and that as human beings we are constantly navigating relationships, suffering, and change. Hardship is a part of life—it is how we cope with it and subsequently heal from it that matters. I use a trauma and attachment lens to help individuals feel safe again in their own bodies and then to establish and cultivate safety in their relationships.
I incorporate tools from DBT, EFT, Psychodynamics, and mindfulness to assist clients in first feeling their emotions, coping with them, and then learning from them. All emotions are part of the human experience—the more we can accept and listen to the unpleasant ones, the easier life becomes.
There is no shame in struggling, and healing is possible.
